ANSM : 2013 Activity Report

In early July 2014, the ANSM published its activity report for 2013. If one point is confirmed, it is that cosmetics (classified under"other products", after medicines and medical devices, and with tattoo products), are not the Agency's first priority: barely ten pages (out of a total of 235) are devoted to them. The Cosmetics Observatory read them for you.

In the overview of significant events for the year 2013 (page 14), the word"cosmetics" is mentioned only once, when the ANSM reminds us"…". the setting up of the interface committee with representatives of the cosmetic products industry "in May 2013. This working group has met twice since then, without any very concrete results being noted…

Cosmetovigilance

On page 105, the report recalls the principles of"the monitoring the risks associated with cosmetic products ". On page 106, it is noted that" in 2013, the Agency processed 157 reports of cosmetovigilance (compared with 193 in 2008, 232 in 2009, 219 in 2010, 187 in 2011 and 171 in 2012) ", without further details.  3 points are highlighted: - the risk of sometimes severe skin reactions with ephemeral black henna tattoos (July 2013), - exchanges at European level of reports of serious adverse reactions since July 2013 (introduction of SUE forms), - compliance of tooth whitening and whitening products with regulations (July 2013).
