Following the publication of European Regulation setting out scientific criteria for the determination of endocrine-disrupting properties for biocides, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) are inviting interested parties to comment on the draft guidance document for the identification of endocrine disruptors under EU legislation for pesticides and biocides by 31 January 2018.

This draft guidance, requested by the European Commission, has been developed by the two agencies with the support of the Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC). Earlier this year EFSA and ECHA conducted two targeted consultations on the draft of the guidance with experts representing Member States Competent Authorities and with stakeholders from industry and NGOs. Numerous comments were received and taken into account in the revision of the guidance.

ECHA and EFSA now invite all interested parties to comment on the updated draft guidance by using the dedicated web form. The deadline for providing comments is 31 January 2018.

All received comments will be taken into consideration in finalising the guidance, which is scheduled to be available by June 2018.

The document shall provide guidance on the implementation of the scientific criteria for the determination of endocrine-disrupting properties in the context of the Biocides and Plant Protection Products Regulations (EU) No.528/2012 and (EC) No.1107/2009. It is intended to be suitable for both applicants and regulatory authorities.
