Deconfinement: let's all go to the hairdresser!

While France was at a standstill for two months and the opening of hairdressing salons was banned, the French had no choice but to see their hair grow. Since May 11th, hairdressers are once again entitled to receive their customers and according to a study published by the Revlon Professional brand, they are being taken by storm by consumers who are determined to fight with their mane.

Hair care specialist Revlon conducted a survey in May 2020 on the relationship that consumers have with their hair during containment.
The brand questioned a panel of 333 men and women between 18 and 75 years old living in metropolitan France.

Figures from the sector

Before getting to the heart of the matter, it is important to remember that hairdressing is the second most important handicraft sector in France. With 85,192 salons and 179,743 employees, the sector has earned 5.8 billion in sales in 2019.
The study by Revlon Professional also indicates that before the containment, 900,000 people were going to have their hair done every day.

Cut that hair !

As deconfinement began to loom, going to the hairdresser was at the top three of what consumers were in a hurry to do, before going to get waxed and going to the barber.
Hair definitely seems to be making life difficult for its owners.

28% of those surveyed said they made their appointment during confinement, while 65% preferred to wait a while. Among them, 60% were men.

The over 50s went to their hairdresser the most during the first week of deconfinement.
