Towards lower cosmetic prices?

Will the crisis, which affects the cosmetics sector like many others, have favourable consequences for consumers' wallets? According to a study by Précepta, a subsidiary of the Xerfi analysis group, the market, currently stagnating, should rebound in 2010, with a new concept in particular:"low-cost" cosmetics.

According to this study, after very slight growth in 2009 estimated at around 1.5%, cosmetics sales should rise again in 2010, with an increase of around 4%. And this evolution would be accompanied by a significant change in the marketing strategy of the main brands or distribution channels that dominate the market.

After a continuous rise in prices (+0.9% in 2007, +2.3% in 2008), which had been the market's first response to the fall in sales and turnover, we would see a questioning of pricing policies, with a widening of price ranges, but above all the development of a low coast concept.

Cosmetics at low prices, why not? If quality doesn't suffer…
