More and more people say they want to change their consumption habits and turn to more “sustainable” brands. And in this period where more and more companies want to be green, YouGov (an agency specialized in data analysis) wanted to know which industries are the most successful in attracting the general public’s sympathy.
YouGov surveyed 5431 French people who say they try to buy only from environmentally and socially responsible actors. The interviews were conducted on June 26, 2022.
Initial findings
While the French are looking to consume better, they are not very familiar with the concept of CSR. In 2021, an average of 82% of French people did not express an opinion on the environmental responsibility of brands and 84% did not have an opinion on social responsibility,” comments YouGov. In 2022, environmental responsibility is still unknown to 81% of respondents (-0.9 points vs. 2021) and social responsibility still has 84% of neutral responses (-0.7 points).
Top of the most “responsible” sectors
According to the sample, the industries with the best environmental and social profile are:
• Baby food
• Parks and museums
• Dairy products
• Perfumes
• Cosmetics
The impact of certifications
The B-Corp label highlights the positive actions of companies. According to the study, it is known by consumers and contributes to the good reputation of brands among respondents.
