As every year, Brand Finance, a brand valuation consultancy, has published its ranking of the most powerful and attractive beauty manufacturers. Spoiler: the first place goes to the French mastodon, L’Oréal.

Brand Finance has ranked the ten cosmetic brands with the highest financial value.

Included in the ranking are:
• L’Oreal ($11.2 billion in value)
• Estée Lauder ($7.9 billion)
• Gillette ($6.9 billion)
• Nivea ($6.8 billion)
• Guerlain ($6.1 billion)
• Clinique (6.1 billion)
• Dove ($5.1 billion)
• Pantene (4.7 billion)
• Lancôme (4.6 billion)
• Garnier (4.1 billion)
“L’Oréal is once again the most valuable cosmetics brand in the world. And with consumers expected to increase their spending as they recover from the pandemic, the brand has significant growth opportunities,” analyzed Annie Brown, Partner at Brand Finance.

In addition to calculating brand value, Brand Finance also determined the relative strength of manufacturers through a table of metrics assessing marketing investment, stakeholder equity and business performance. Brand Finance developed the Brand Strengh Index (BSI). This index allows manufacturers to be rated out of 100. The firm has therefore established a ranking of the ten most “solid” brands. We find in order:
• Natura&Co (91,5/100)
• Estée Lauder (87/100)
• Lancôme (85,2/100)
• Clinique (85,2/100)
• Nivea (83.6/100)
• Yves Rocher (83/100)
• Bioré (83/100)
• Gillette (82.8/100)
• Procter&Gamble (82,6/100)
• Johnson&Johnson (82.3/100)
