CLP classification intentions for Acetyl Hexamethyl Tetralin and Sodium Fluoride

Intentions de classifications CLP pour les Acetyl hexamethyl tetralin et le Sodium fluoride

On 3 April 2024, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) published Germany’s intention of an harmonised classification and labelling (CLH) for Acetyl Hexamethyl Tetralin, and France’s intention for Sodium Fluoride. Both substances are targeted for their reproductive toxicity.

Acetyl Hexamethyl Tetralin

1-(5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-3,5,5,6,8,8-hexamethyl-2-naphthyl)ethan-1-one (CAS No.1506-02-1 / 21145-77-7, EC No.216-133-4 / 244-240-6, INCI: Acetyl Hexamethyl Tetralin) is an ingredient listed in the Cosing, with the function: Fragrance.
The substance is included in Annex III/182 of the European Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009, which limits its use to 0.1% in leave-on products (except in hydroalcoholic products: 1%, fine fragrance: 2.5%, fragrance cream: 0.5%) and ti 0.2% in rinse-off products.
It is not currently listed in Annex VI of European CLP Regulation 1272/2008.

Germany intends to propose the following classifications:
• Repr. 1B, H360FD - May damage fertility. May damage the unborn child
• STOT RE 2, H373 - May cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure

Sodium Fluoride

Sodium fluoride(CAS No.7681-49-4, EC No.231-667-8, INCI: Sodium Fluride) s an ingredient listed in the Cosing, with the functions: Antiplaque, Oral care.
The substance is included in Annex III/62 du Règlement Cosmétiques européen 1223/2009, which limits its use at 0.15% in oral products, with warning statements.
It is also listed in Annex VI/009-004-00-7 of European CLP Regulation 1272/2008, with the following classifications:
• Acute Tox. 3* - H301 - Toxic if swallowed
• Eye Irrit. 2 - H315 - Causes skin irritation
