FEBEA commits to a more sustainable industry

La FEBEA s'engage pour une filière plus responsable

One of the objectives of the French cosmetics industry is to act more virtuously. At a digital press conference broadcast on May 28, 2024, the FEBEA revisited the various projects set up to help combat the environmental crisis.

“Ecological transition is of paramount importance to us,” explains Emmanuel Guichard, General Delegate of the FEBEA. “What’s more, we want France to become the world leader in sustainable cosmetics. To achieve this ambition, we have deployed a series of collective actions with beauty companies. Our aim is to go beyond what the regulatory framework imposes on us, in order to meet the specific challenges of our sector.”

Water sobriety

Water is a key resource, but it is becoming increasingly scarce. The cosmetics industry is committed to reducing its water consumption by 10%.
To help its members and reinforce actions already underway, in 2024 the FEBEA published the “Water Sobriety” guide, which lists best practices in this area.
To go even further, the Federation is planning a water sobriety plan for summer 2024. “It will identify the difficulties encountered by plants (particularly in the event of drought), the processes enabling them to reduce their water consumption, and the mandatory conditions for their implementation. In this way, the plan will help sites to prepare for future tensions on water resources, and to deploy the necessary solutions upstream.”
