Prostaglandin analogues: new request for Opinion to SCCSSubscribers only

In its assessment at the beginning of 2022, the SCCS was unable to reach a conclusion on the safety of prostaglandin analogues substances. Since the industry has provided new data, the European Commission has just given the Scientific Committee a new mandate.

Silver: preliminary Opinion of the SCCSSubscribers only

Following an opinion from the Risk Assessment Committee (RAC) of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) recommending that silver be classified as “Toxic for Reproduction Category 2”, the European Commission asked the SCCS to assess it safety. The Scientific Committee has just published its preliminary Opinion. It is open to comments until 5 May 2024.

Citral: preliminary Opinion of the SCCSSubscribers only

Following the mandate given by the European Commission, the SCCS has assessed the safety of Citral (a fragrance ingredient) with regard to its sensitising potential. The Scientific Committee has just published its preliminary Opinion. It is open to comments until 2 June 2024.

Hair dyes: requests for Opinions to the SCCS for B123 and B124Subscribers only

Two hair dye ingredients are undergoing safety assessment by the SCCS, HC Yellow 16 (B123) and HC Red 18 (B124 or FPK 245). The European Commission has just published these two Opinion requests, and the Scientific Committee accepted these mandates on 24 March 2024.

Safety of aluminium in cosmetics: final Opinion of the SCCSSubscribers only

Following a new submission of exposure data by the “Aluminium” Consortium led by Cosmetics Europe, the European Commission asked the SCCS (Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety) to give a new opinion on the safety of its compounds in cosmetic products. The Scientific Committee has just published its final Opinion.
