The cosmetics heavyweight just announced the signing of an agreement with Natura & Co to acquire Aēsop, the Australian luxury cosmetics brand. A successful deal for L’Oreal, which continues to expand its premium portfolio.

Aēsop is distributed in approximately 400 exclusive outlets in the Americas, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Asia, with a nascent presence in China, where the first store opened in 2022.
The brand had sales of $537 million in 2022.

According to GlobalData, a company specializing in market data and analytics, the acquisition makes sense as it allows L’Oreal to appeal to consumers looking for luxury products.

“Aēsop will join brands like Lancôme and Kiehl’s in L’Oréal’s Luxury division, which has evolved into a prestige icon. Aesop’s clean aesthetic appeals to Generation Z and millennial consumers, and although its products are priced high (a 500ml hand soap costs 31 euros), it has broad appeal to the general public,” analyzed …
