Slimming scrubs are booming…

Loupe contenant des cosmétiques

Toning, remineralizing, really draining… Such are the boosting slimming claims putting slimming products in the spotlight, when they were actually not announced as the season’s stars.

‘Doing gymnastics’ with your tissues with a scrub was a practice Clarins had already been promoting (Tonic Body Polisher with essential oils, 250 g, €43.80). For this spring 2018, this idea is more than ever trendy. Mechanic scrubbing naturally mobilizes and stimulates the skin, while activating microcirculation. Enriched in essential oils, ivy and caffeine extracts… (most ‘slimming’ scrubs are), it helps tone up and smooth the skin contours, which sort of ‘blurs’ cellulite. In addition, it enhances the absorption of the slimming actives.

After Weleda and their scrubbing shower cream with birch (Bouleau Crème de Douche Gommante, 150 ml, €10.05), Caudalie (Crushed Cabernet Scrub, 150 g, €22.20), Linéance and their intense scrub (Gommage Intense Effet Peau Neuve Minute, 150 ml, €5.45), and Puressentiel Minceur last year (Express Scrub Stubborn Zones, 150 ml, €17.30), others have been launching their own versions, like Mary Cohr (Orange Peel Scrub, 200 ml, €34), Elancyl (Energizing Foaming Scrub, 150 ml, €10.75), and Filorga (Scrub & Peel, Resurfacing Exfoliating Cream Instant New-Skin Effect, 150 ml, €24.90).
With their double, mechanic & enzymatic exfoliation system and anti-cellulite actives (caffeine and ivy extract), Mary Cohr even claim their scrub helps release stocked fats. As for Thalgo, they drew inspiration from thalassotherapy to formulate Revitalizing Marine Scrub with remineralizing micro-fragmented seaweed and a sorbet texture (Les Essentiels Marins, 200 ml, €33).
Similarly, Phytomer created Toning Body Scrub with marine salt crystals (150 ml, €41.10). But the slimming expert marine brand went even farther with ResurfaSlim Peel & Slim Cream 2-in-1 (150 ml, €59.50), an ‘all-inclusive’ formula concentrated in AHAs (glycolic, lactic, and citric acids combined with a marine AHA) and slimming actives (pink pepper oil, remodeling marine sugars…) for those who do not have the time to scrub their skins and apply a slimming product.

Lastly, Carita have made their renowned, exfoliating & slimming Body Rénovateur (200 ml, €60) available to the general public – it used to be only in beauty salons. Based on sunflower seeds and thyme, clove, and lemon essential oils, it transforms the skin’s texture.
