Red eye shadows

undefined

It is the trendy colour this autumn, and even supermarkets have adopted it. You are scared of looking like an albino rabbit? No panic: even if it is not that easy to wear, when it is shaded with brown or purple or provides a burgundyish or earth-toned result, it gets much more flattering.

It all started with Chanel and their Christmas 2016 collection resolutely focused on the famous Rouge Noir shade (Illusion d’Ombre 857 Rouge Noir, €30.50; Le
Crayon Khôl 17 Rouge Noir, €21.50, both limited editions). The test must have been conclusive, since the brand has released similar colours this season, with Ombre Première 36 Désert Rouge (€32), an earth-toned red.

The same shade is available in Les 4 Ombres de Chanel 268 Candeur et Expérience (€52, Travel Diary Collection).

Lancôme has added an iridescent burgundy colour to their autumn palette drawn by Olympia Le-Tan (Olympia’s Wonderland Palette, €80).

In turn, Dior chose a precious, sparkling ruby shade as the flagship colour for their splendid Christmas collection (5 Couleurs Precious Rocks, Palette Regard Couture 857 Ruby, €61, as from November).

Unparalleled hair dyer Nars could definitely not do without red. The brand offers two of them: Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Desdemona, an iridescent burgundy (€27), and Kuala Lumpur Duo Eyeshadow, a brownish red (€34).

Supermarkets are not lagging behind

L’Oréal Paris has created Infaillible Eye Paint Nudist, a liquid, hyper-pigmented, long-lasting burgundy eye shadow (€10.40).

Artdeco has imagined two of them, again with two dominant shades: hot red (130 Pearly Chocolate) or cold red (359 Glam Bordeaux) in a tailor-made palette (Système Mosaïque Beauty Box Trio, €38.40).

Lastly, Maybelline New York has just launched The Burgundy Bar Palette (€14.90), 12 eye shadows from matte to scintillating burgundy shades for a passionate look.

Spectacular and theatrical, red eye shadows create a devilishly romantic style and will turn you straight away into Alexandre Dumas’s Dame aux Camélias…
