The L'Occitane Group reinforces its strategy in favor of the climate

The cosmetics company has just published its new environmental roadmap for 2050. Faced with the challenges of climate change, the cosmetics heavyweight wants to halve its greenhouse gas emissions by 2031 and achieve emission neutrality by 2050.

To achieve these goals, the group has a plan of attack that comes in three parts.

Reduce emissions related to energy consumption
The aim is to halve the greenhouse gas emissions linked to the energy consumption of its own sites (factories, warehouses, points of sale), mainly through the use of renewable energies as well as energy efficiency and sobriety. In 2021, 95% of the electricity consumed came from renewable sources.

Reduce emissions for which responsibility is shared
“More complex, these emissions affect in particular the supply, transport and use of products. They involve finding solutions with partners, suppliers and customers, as illustrated by the product eco-design policy or the sustainable logistics policy. We also plan to eliminate the use of air freight by 2030”, explains the group. “The product use phase represents a large share of the group's GHG emissions, due to the consumption of hot water by users to rinse the products. In order to innovate and support consumer habits, we are now members of the 50L Home coalition, which seeks to encourage responsible water use”.
