The CLR ingredients supplier took advantage of the Cosmetagora trade show (held in Paris on 14 and 15 January 2025) to present its latest active ingredient: CefiraProtect CLR™. This ingredient protects the skin against exposome influences by making it more resistant.
The skin is subjected to numerous external aggressions. To help it combat all this oxidative stress, CLR has come up with CefiraProtect CLR™, an active ingredient obtained from Lactobacillus kefiranofaciens. “Lactobacillus kefiranofaciens is an important constituent of kefir grains and is known for its probiotic properties. It produces kefiran, a polysaccharide with beneficial health properties,” explains the company.
Skin benefits
According to CLR, CefiraProtect CLR™ helps to:
activate cellular self-defence mechanisms against free radicals,
protect skin proteins, regulate skin redness induced by sun exposure,
improve the skin’s barrier, elasticity and firmness.
This active ingredient can be added to anti-ageing, firming, smoothing, soothing, calming and anti-stress skincare formulas or those which help restore the skin barrier.
In vivo results
CLR tested the effect of this active ingredient on reducing skin inflammation (test protocol and number of study participants not disclosed).
CefiraProtect CLR™ reduced inflammation for almost 90% of volunteers who applied a skincare product containing this active.
Less than half of the panelists who applied a placebo observed a reduction in inflammation.
