On 5 April 2022, the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), which regulates cosmetic products in the UK, launched a call for data for five ingredients with endocrine disrupting properties, in order to assess their safety.
This call for evidence targets five cosmetic ingredients:
• Benzophenone-3 (CAS 131-57-7)
• Octocrylene (CAS 6197-30-4)
• Homosalate (CAS 118-56-9)
• Kojic acid (CAS 501-30-4)
• Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) (CAS 128-37-0)
It runs until 31 May 2022.
These five ingredients have also been the subject of a call for data by the European Commission, and the SCCS has already published its Opinion on the safety of each of them.
