What do the French think of marketplaces?

Que pensent les Français des marketplaces ?

Electronic marketplaces are becoming more and more common. On these spaces, you can find everything (including beauty products) and the sellers have different profiles (brands, distributors, individuals…) But what is the attitude of the French towards these platforms? Do they trust them? To find out, OpinionWay conducted a survey on behalf of La Retail Tech.

~ 1 minutes

The OpinionWay survey for La Retail Tech was conducted among a sample of 1,014 people representative of the French population aged 18 and over.
The panel was interviewed by self-administered online questionnaire on June 29 and 30.

When the French visit a marketplace, they pay attention to the seller’s profile. They systematically or often (78%) identify whether it is an official brand or an unapproved partner. It would even seem that women are slightly more vigilant than men (76% vs. 74%).

Criteria

When the French buy products offered by partner sellers, they pay attention to:
• The quality (66%)
• The price (63%)
• Thedelivery terms (59%)
• The guarantee (56%)
• The return conditions (55%)
• The quality of the after-sales service (51%)
• The seller’s reputation (46%)
• The choice of products offered (40%)
• The information about the seller (40%)
• The time saving (31%)

When it comes to shopping on a marketplace, the French are on the lookout. They want to be sure of the seriousness of the sellers they don’t know and want to avoid the bad traps that these platforms sometimes reserve.
