Back to M.A.C: the sustainable program of M.A.C Cosmetics

Back to M.A.C : le programme durable de M.A.C Cosmetics

The makeup brand is now offering consumers the opportunity to bring back their empty makeup packages to the store (as long as they are stamped M.A.C). They will then be crushed into granules and recycled and/or transformed into energy.

The circular economy is at the heart of current strategies of cosmetic brands. As evidenced by the Back to M.A.C. program, this initiative was born out of the realization that recycling channels were unable to process small objects made up of several materials. In addition to this program, M.A.C is also very sensitive to its environmental impact.

“As part of our parent company, Estée Lauder Companies’ goals, by 2025, 75% to 100% of our packaging will be recyclable, refillable, reusable, recycled or recoverable. Our ambition is to use responsibly sourced paper products whenever possible. Today, more than 95% of our cardboard fiber from forests is FSC certified. Our goal is to have 50% of our packaging made from post-consumer recycled materials by 2025,” says the brand.

Consumers are therefore invited to bring their used and clean packaging back to the stores.
Attention, the brand says it does not take care of the packs of the ranges intended for professionals, the secondary packaging and the samples.
