Climate issues are at the core of the strategies of all manufacturers in the beauty industry. It is the turn of Codif Technologie Naturelle, a company specialized in the design of cosmetic ingredients, to present its sustainability program.
To improve its environmental impact, Codif TN harvests wild plants and algae in a reasoned way. The company also cultivates certain raw materials in greenhouses or in fields so as not to unbalance natural resources.
But the company wants to go further and that’s where the Bioth-Ecology program comes in. Codif TN has decided to use biotechnologies that “allow the cultivation of living organisms without ever putting pressure on nature. To do this, a micro-organism must be taken from the sea before being placed in a bio-bank.” The sample can then be replicated endlessly.
Today, Codif TN offers 49 active ingredients. Of these, 22% are from the Bioth-Ecology program, 18% from greenhouse crops and 18% from virtuous harvests.
The company is also a member of the UEBT since September 2021. “The objective of this membership is to work towards the protection of our planet’s biodiversity, including the management of its natural resources.”
Finally, Codif TN wants to move forward with transparency. The ingredient supplier has implemented a carbon footprint calculation, smart waste management and ecotoxicity (and biodegradability) monitoring of active ingredients.
