Blue innovation mapped out at in-cosmetics

Water is essential in the cosmetics and personal care industry – during production, as an ingredient and in the skin. 2013 marks the UN’s International Year of Water Cooperation and as politicians debate water consumption at a global scale, it is only natural that in-cosmetics shines a spotlight on this vital component when it returns to Paris on 16-18 April.

A special programme dedicated to H2O, including two panel discussions and multiple presentations as part of the Educational Programme, will see the industry come together to explore the latest trends and challenges in H2O.

Follow the trail

An H2O trail has also been devised to lead visitors to exhibitor stands where H2O projects will display ingredients, formulations and product concepts that all use water innovatively.

No water is the same. Algea AS, Brasca, Gattefossé and Kreglinger Specialties are all presenting the benefits original waters can bring to products compared to traditionally used demineralised water. From 100 per cent fruit waters to the cold sea of Norway and Tasmanian rainwater, visitors to in-cosmetics can learn more about how each source has its own unique eco-system that can provide the basis for new raw materials and actives.

Skin hydration is a major concern for consumers and more sophisticated formulations mean manufacturers can now create effective products with superior sensorial benefits. On the trail, Air Products will display its new moisturising active that infuses hydration benefits into the skin itself, while Codif presents a pure exopolysaccharide active that claims to re-boot skin hydra-memory function.
