July 1 - Marc-Antoine Jamet re-elected President of Cosmetic Valley At its Annual General Meeting on June 26, the Cosmetic Valley Board of Directors reappointed the LVMH Group as Chairman of the competitiveness cluster for a further three years. Marc-Antoine Jamet, General Secretary of LVMH, was re-elected Chairman. At his side, governance will be ensured by five Deputy Vice-Presidents (Christian Combeau - Puig, Patrick Beau - SpinControl, Daniel Guillermin - Shiseido, Youssoufi Touré - University of Orléans and Christophe Demazière - University of Tours). Jean-Luc Ansel remains Chief Executive Officer.

June 30 - Nanos: FDA Guidelines The FDA has just published its guidelines on the safety of nanomaterials in cosmetics. US Food & Nutrition Drug Administration recommends that the safety assessment of cosmetic products containing nanomaterials should take into account several points, including physico-chemical characteristics, agglomeration and distribution size in the finished product, potential routes of exposure to nanomaterials, dosimetry for in vitro and in vivo studies, in vitro and in vivo toxicological data on nano ingredients and their impurities, skin penetration, potential inhalation, irritation (dermal and ocular) and sensitization, mutagenicity and genotoxicity studies. The document invites manufacturers to contact the FDA with any questions regarding the safety assessment. - …
