Growth, search for meaning, and emotion were the three main keywords at the press conference held last June 9 in Paris by Cosmebio, the Professional Association for Ecological and Organic Cosmetics. The sector’s growth was confirmed with official figures, and search for meaning and pleasure of use were presented as the new positionings and focuses for communication campaigns. In the end, things got emotional when the 2nd Cosmebio trophies were awarded.
Just like last year, Development Director Betty Santonnat used the second part of Cosmebio’s annual general meeting, which is open to the media, to give an overview of the organic cosmetics sector. And she started by reminding everyone of Cosmebio’s positioning.
Cosmebio: 1st French cosmetics label, 1st association in the world
As the survey conducted by CosmeticOBS confirmed in early 2015
, Cosmebio is the most acknowledged organic label in France. However, it is not just a logo on organic cosmetics packaging. It is also a collective and a network, which Betty Santonnat described with these figures:
• 1st association in the world for organic cosmetics, founded in 2002
• 350 member companies (ingredient suppliers, subcontractors, laboratories, private label distributors)
• More than 450 organic cosmetics brands labelled
• A wide offer with over 9,000 products labelled
• Five commissions set up: International, Distribution, Technical, Communication, and Ethics
• Referent organization, member-founder that defined specifications for European label Cosmos-Standard
• Training institution since 2011. Eight thematic courses in 2015 held on the premises of Cosmebio members across France and in Paris.
