The ingredient supplier has just announced the acquisition of biotechnology specialist Solus Biotech. The aim of this operation is to enable Croda to enrich its range of ingredients, such as synthetic ceramics, for the cosmetics industry.
Located in South Korea, Solus Biotech also aims to increase Croda’s production capacity in Asia and create a new biotechnology R&D hub in the region.
“This is a very interesting opportunity for Croda. Our existing ceramides, currently sourced from Sederma, will be complemented by these natural fermentation-derived ceramides, adding to our portfolio of highly effective scientific ingredients. We are delighted to add the Solus production site in South Korea to our operations, continuing our growth strategy in this key region. The innovation synergies between our different R&D laboratories will bring additional technical value and commercial opportunities for our customers worldwide,” said Luc Emprin, Global Sales Director for Sederma (a subsidiary of Croda).
