At the 4th B.I.O. N’Days, the global event dedicated to organic innovation held in Valence, France, last April 6-7, 2016, Organics Cluster unveiled the follow-up of their prospective study, ‘Organic markets by 2025’, launched in 2014. Here are some extracts regarding cosmetics.
In 2014, at the 3rd edition of the B.I.O. N’Days, Organics Cluster had presented their prospective study, ‘Organic markets by 2025’, conducted with Futuribles, an independent research and discussion centre on the contemporary world.
This original collective work, based on figures and feedback on the practical experience of a group of forty national and international experts in the organic sector, had led to several possible scenarios to imagine the future of organic markets in the food and cosmetics industries.
Four conceivable scenarios had been highlighted for 2025 for the cosmetics sector:
• Scenario 1: an emerging organic market
A growing organic market that needs both an identity and an adapted distribution, in competition with conventional cosmetics as regards economics and regulations
• Scenario 2: a referent organic market
Organic cosmetics boosted by sanitary crises
• Scenario 3: a liberal organic market
Organic cosmetics set out to conquer different markets
• Scenario 4: a performance-oriented organic market
Crisis of confidence towards organic cosmetics
In 2016, Organics Cluster decided to make an update on these scenarios, measure their evolution, and determine which one corresponded to the current situation. It was a first for a prospective study.
