Givaudan's Synchronight, the cosmetic ingredient that makes you sleep better

On the dates when the event should have initially been held (from March 31 to April 2), the organizers of in-cosmetics 2020 proposed a series of web-conferences as teasings. 27 short presentations allowed experts and suppliers of cosmetic ingredients to present an overview of the conferences and launches that had to be postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In this context, Mathias Fleury unveiled Givaudan’s latest innovation, Synchronight.

It is vegan, approved by the COSMOS-Standard, and can be used on the Chinese market. Most importantly, Synchronight, this brand new ingredient from Givaudan is a microbiome activated active ingredient that protects against digital stress and improves sleep quality… just that.

Taking into account the impact of digital stress on melatonin

According to the research firm Mintel, getting more sleep is the number one wellness resolution of consumers worldwide for 2020.
• 80% of them are not satisfied with the quality of their sleep
• 68% of Americans find it difficult to fall asleep or stay asleep
• 50% of Britons are unable to sleep the seven hours recommended by the WHO every night

The key molecule when it comes to sleep is obviously melatonin. This hormone is produced naturally by our body on the basis of a day/night biological cycle (with a peak during the night), and has a direct influence on the quality of our sleep.
What is a little less known is that it is also a powerful anti-aging molecule, for two main reasons:
• It has a strong antioxidant activity
• It triggers a cascade of biological defence reactions, binding with the MT1R receptor
