High-level speakers at Beauty of Sourcing with Respect Conference

The Union for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT) announces high-level representatives from business, government and research sectors, who will shed light on how biodiversity is reshaping the beauty industry. The Beauty of Sourcing with Respect Conference will be held on 19 April in Paris.

Keynote speeches highlight role of biodiversity
The President of the French National Museum of Natural History, Prof. Gilles Boeuf, will share his experience on the newly created UN scientific panel on biodiversity and the implications for companies sourcing natural ingredients. Thierry Aubry-Lecomte, European manager of cosmetics giant Natura – one of the world’s most innovative and sustainable companies – will explain how biodiversity can drive innovation.

Chinese consumers show high biodiversity awareness
The 2013 edition of the UEBT biodiversity barometer, which will be presented by IPSOS on 19 April, includes brand new information on Chinese consumers’ perspectives. Amongst others, representatives from L'Oreal and Weleda will be present to explain their views on the showcased trends. David Ainsworth of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, and moderator of the session on the biodiversity barometer, explains: ‘By 2020, the UN wants biodiversity to be a concept known by the average person on the street. The UEBT Biodiversity Barometer helps us track this progress and therefore identify ways to sharpen our biodiversity messaging and campaigns.’
