Innovation at the heart of Cosmetic Valley strategy

For the ninth year running, the competitiveness cluster is organizing the “Cosmetic Victories”. The aim of the awards ceremony is to support projects that can benefit the beauty industry. On April 15, 2024, the jury met to deliberate. Here are the winners.

“The jury, chaired by Marc-Antoine Jamet, President of Cosmetic Valley and General Secretary of LVMH, met for three hours in a row, in a studious atmosphere, to debate, hear the candidates and judge their projects. Lastly, this competition is an essential means of underlining the importance of Made In France and its four pillars: product authenticity, consumer safety, protection of the planet and, of course, innovation performance, which is essential if French cosmetics are to maintain their status as world leaders, at a time when old competitors have not disappeared and new ones are appearing,” explains Cosmetic Valley.
The jury awarded two winners.

The Academic Prize was awarded to Matej Hladiš, whose project is inspired by the biological mechanism by which our brain interprets olfactory percepts, to develop a bio-inspired AI capable of predicting the smell of molecules. Ultimately, the aim is to be able to create custom perfumes, while offering alternatives to raw materials in order to reduce ecological impact.
Dr. Prateek Mahalwar received the Industry Award for his MicBeads100. This is a functional micropowder derived from bacterial cellulose that replaces solid microplastics such as PMMA in cosmetic products. Manufactured by recycling agri-food waste and applying green chemistry, the …
