The English cosmetics company, in collaboration with the NGO Refugee Action, has launched the “Refugees Welcome” campaign. The aim? To inspire compassion and empathy for refugees and asylum seekers, and to raise funds to help them.
The company’s 103 stores in the UK will feature a campaign window with a bright message that reads, “Wherever you’re from, however you got here, all refugees are welcome.”
“The word ‘Welcome’ will also appear in Albanian, Arabic, Dari and Farsi, Kurdish, Spanish, Tigrinya, Pashto, Ukrainian and Burmese to represent the languages of the countries from which most people arriving in the UK come,” says Lush.
In addition to this awareness campaign (scheduled from June 19 to 28), the company will be marketing a bath bomb specially designed for the occasion. It will be green and blue, in reference to the Refugee Action logo. It will be embossed with the word “Welcome” and sold with a QR code linking to the campaign page on the Refugee Action website.
All proceeds from sales (excluding VAT) of the Welcome bath bomb will be donated to the NGO.
In addition, all Lush stores will have postcards available on which to write messages of welcome to refugees.
“We believe that everyone should enjoy freedom of movement around the world and, with this campaign, we’re working with Refugee Action to inspire compassion and empathy for refugees and asylum seekers,” said Andrew Butler, Lush Campaigns Manager.
