Have cosmetics been removed from the scope of products covered by the EU Ecodesign Regulation?
Xavier Guéant’s answer
It is true that currently, the Ecodesign Directive does not mention cosmetic products. But the Regulation that will replace this Directive, which is currently being discussed, will broaden the scope of products that will be concerned. And typically, cosmetic products are envisaged today by the Commission as being concerned. In fact, there will be a Regulation on ecodesign. And then there will be about thirty delegated regulations that will be sectoral, and there will be one for cosmetics. This will be done in two stages.

Will it still be possible to make eco-designed product or packaging claims? And will the “Brand in solidarity with the environment” claim be allowed?
