The Body Shop has suffered a major setback. A few days ago, the Group announced that it was placing the brand in receivership in the UK and cutting 270 head office jobs.
75 stores will close (including eight in Scotland) over the next six weeks, resulting in the loss of 489 jobs.
The Belgian branch, in turn, was declared bankrupt on Tuesday February 27.
In Canada, The Body Shop has filed for bankruptcy protection. The brand has announced the closure of 33 of its stores (out of 105) and the shutdown of its e-commerce site.
Subsequently, the company hopes to be able to restructure and continue selling in the country.
The brand’s activities in the United States have also been halted.

What about French stores? According to information revealed by Le Parisien, the future of the French subsidiary is still in doubt. According to the daily, French stores are no longer stocked, and March wages are not guaranteed for the 260 employees.
The brand’s website is under maintenance, but it is still possible to visit stores to make purchases.

The brand has yet to make a public statement.
