Removal of microplastics in formulas, nano-registrations, Brexit, ingredients under evaluation by the SCCS, new restrictions for D4 and D5 or Climbazole, further study of a new labelling for allergens, implementation of several regulations (CMR, ingredient glossary)… Many regulations and new obligations are coming into force, others are in preparation. DGCCRF controls: the announced themes
• Claims : The controls of the claims “Organic”, “Natural”, “Free-from…” and “With…” will continue in line with the investigations carried out in 2019.
• Similarly, controls on nanos will be continued, in particular those concerning the use of colorants in the form of nanomaterials.
• Finally, as part of the “Clean Market” operation, a focus will be placed on compliance with the prohibition of CMRs and restrictions on regulated ingredients.

Public holiday - New Year’s Day
Ban on microbeads in rinse-off cosmetic products for exfoliation and skin cleansing
No more microplastics in exfoliants and other rinse-off products: this is the watchword of the year. Cosmetics Europe’s recommendation to stop using them was aimed at 2020, and this January 1st also sees several national laws coming into force (Italy, Asia, California…). A first step before the prohibitions that are emerging under the REACH Regulation: ECHA is proposing, in the long term, to ban them in all rinse-off and leave-on cosmetics.
