Weleda has just obtained the “B-Corp” (Certified Benefit Corporation) certification, an asset that confers on it the status of an industrial company with a positive effect on the planet. Weleda thus joins the closed club of cosmetic companies to hold this precious sesame.
The B-Corp label is awarded by the non-profit organization B Lab. It allows to evaluate the actions, the global approach of companies and their impact on the planet. The focus is on their social, societal and environmental contributions, and reconciles economic activity and collective interest. This certification attests to the commitments made to the planet, biodiversity, the protection of species and the climate, human rights, employees and customers.
“Weleda’s mission is to promote health and beauty in harmony with people and nature. The company has been guided by this principle since its foundation in 1921 and has always placed sustainability above profit. Serving the planet and the common good is also anchored in the company’s statutes. Becoming a certified B-Corp is a new step for Weleda. B-Corps meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. By renewing its certification every three years, Weleda is committed to a process of continuous improvement,” said the brand.
