Algafiller, the new anti-ageing active ingredient from Agrimer

Algafiller, le nouvel actif anti-âge d'Agrimer

Derived from a self-regenerating macro-algae sourced in Brittany, with a coenocytic structure made up of a single giant cell with a strong healing and regenerative capacity, Algafiller has been tested in vitro and in vivo for its lipofilling, filling, firming and dermal density improvement activity, as well as for the reduction of wrinkles and fine lines of crow’s feet.

Extract of Codium tomentosum obtained by auto-hydrolysis, titrated in sulphated arabinogalactans and mannans, the activity of Algafiller has been objectivated on different points:
• Filling effect, lipofilling
• Improvement of firmness
• Increase of the dermis density
• Reduction of wrinkles and fine lines of the crow’s feet
It can be used used in anti-ageing care, post-menopausal care and surge-like products.

Efficacy

In vitro test
The active ingredient was tested on human adipocytes. Results :
• At 0.3%, increased differentiation of preadipocytes into adipocytes and lipogenic effect (+ 130% compared to control)
• at 0.1%, increased adiponectin secretion (+ 212% compared to control)

Ex vivo test
When tested on human skin explants, Algafiller increases GAG neosynthesis in the tissue (+29% to 0.1% compared to control).

In vivo test
A study was conducted on 30 volunteers, with twice-daily application of a 3% Algafiller cream for 56 days versus placebo. Measurements were taken at D56.
• Smoothing of crow’s feet: -12.3% of wrinkle volume
• Smoothing of the nasolabial fold: -22.2% of the depth of the fold
• Plumping effect: +6% of cheek volume
• Increase in skin tone: +15.2% skin firmness
• Plumping effect on the dermis: +17.3% of dermal density …
