March, 18 - Aluminium: concern in Germany
After the French AFSSAPS (known today as ANSM, the French national agency for the safety of medicine and health products), and the Norwegian Scientific Committee for Food Safety (VKM), the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) is in turn getting worried about the presence of aluminium in cosmetic products. The Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung now highlights the fact that the exposure to different sources, including food, may lead to exceeding tolerable limits. It thus recommends to limit the use of antiperspirants based on aluminium salts, and to altogether avoid cosmetic products containing aluminium after shaving or on damaged skins.

March, 12 - A US bill to phase out animal testing
This project has been introduced on March, 5. The purpose of the "Humane Cosmetics Acts" is to phase out cosmetic animal testing in the USA, and to prohibit the sales of cosmetics tested on animals. it provides for a civil penalty of $10,000 for each violation.
