For some time now, we have seen the emergence of the concept of “ageing well”. It is linked to better health but also to a more fulfilling life as the years go by. “Ageing well” starts with accepting the passage of time and the effects it can have on our mental and physical well-being.
What if we defied the laws of gravity? Discover how with J-Dermist.
The vegetal inspiration
Newton’s answers to gravity came from an apple falling to the ground from the top of an apple tree.
Codif Technologie Naturelle (CTN) solution to gravity comes from a plant that grows out of the ground and rises more than 2m towards the sky.
This plant is the Isodon japonicus also called Enmei-so, meaning “the plant that prolongs life”. This ability to stand upright despite the effect of gravity is due to the composition of its support tissue, which provides both flexibility and rigidity.
The sclerenchyma, thanks to lignin, is a tissue of rigid cells bringing its mechanical resistance to the plant.
Inspired by this plant, Codif obtain an anti-gravity active ingredient, J-Dermist:
• Rejuvenation of the DEJ
• Redensification of the dermis
• Decrease of wrinkles
• Better resistance to gravity
Innovative protocole
Codif is among the first ones to explore XPOLAR® technology to qualify and quantify both density and quality of collagen fibres for anti-ageing application.
The XPOLAR® technology allows to quantify the polarisation change through a dimensional number called Kmax.
A modification/ageing of the collagen will result in a decrease in the Kmax measured.
For example, the Kmax parameter can be used to monitor collagen degradation or to quantify the effectiveness of an active ingredient.
After seven days of treatment, J-Dermist improves the quality of support fibres by +60%**** in the medial dermis and also stimulates the density of collagen fibres by +156%***.

But how do you assess the effect of gravity on sagging lines? Here again Codif Technologie Naturelle has been innovative.
The company evaluated the resistance to gravity by analysing the nasolabial fold in the sitting position (maximum gravity stress) and in the supine position (minimum gravity stress).
Action mechanism
• Reactivation of the metabolic activity of keratinocytes
• Reactivation of the metabolic activity of fibroblasts
• Tissue reorganization of the Extra-Cellular Matrix
In vivo benefits
• +1,4%** rejuvenation of the DEJ
• +15%* dermis density
• -10% wrinkles depth
• -13% gravity effect (whole panel)
• -28%** gravity effect on volunteers with weaker skin resistance
