BioD-Scent: TechnicoFlor's new tool for calculating the biodegradability of fragrances

TechnicoFlor reaffirms its commitment to protecting the planet and preserving the environment by taking a new step in its sustainable development approach. The group is today launching a new tool to calculate the biodegradability of its fragrance compositions developed for the perfumery and cosmetics industries: BioD-Scent®.

The TechnicoFlor Group is taking numerous initiatives to promote transparency in the industry and towards consumers. After its “Better Tomorrow” programme of responsible purchasing aimed at offering brands eco-responsible formulas made from raw materials that respect nature and those who use them, while guaranteeing an optimal level of quality, TechnicoFlor is going further. The group is now launching a new tool to calculate the biodegradability of its fragrance compositions developed for the perfumery and cosmetics industry: BioD-Scent®.

The BioD-Scent tool

This tool, developed by TechnicoFlor’s Regulatory Department, based on a calculation method endorsed by an external laboratory, enables all types of raw materials to be analysed: natural, of natural origin, synthetics, isolates, essential oils, solvents…
320 raw materials have been checked to date: the idea is to be able to evaluate the percentage of biodegradability of the perfume compositions that the company creates for the brands and to be able to develop, if necessary, perfumes that are 100% biodegradable.
