January 29 - Avon France applies for receivership Avon France, a subsidiary of the American cosmetics giant Avon Products, has applied to the Bobigny Commercial Court for receivership. Reason: the company loses money and the group no longer has the means to bail it out. The decision has been reserved and is scheduled for Thursday, January 30. Avon France has 127 employees and thousands of independent home saleswomen.

 27 January - China: CFDA consultation on existing ingredients The China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) has launched a public consultation on IECIC 2014 (Inventory of Existing Cosmetic Ingredients in China). The 2014 list contains 8,641 ingredients, while the 2013 list only contained 3,265. The presence of a substance on the existing list of ingredients should avoid its registration as a new ingredient.
