February, 25 - Givaudan wants to buy Soliance
Givaudan SA said Friday it had entered into exclusive negotiations to buy a French company that makes ingredients for cosmetics. The Swiss manufacturer of flavors and fragrances said it was seeking to buy Soliance SA, a division of ARD, or Agro-Industrie Recherches & Développements, specialized in active ingredients from vegetables, micro-organisms and micro-algae.

February, 24 -  Decléor and Carita sold to L'Oréal
Decléor and Carita have been sold to L’Oreal by previous owner Shiseido for €227.5million. The deal, which was initially announced in October 2013, was finalized last week.

February, 13 - New York may ban microbeads in cosmetics
New York may become the first state to ban tiny plastic microbeads found in hundreds of facial scrubs, soaps and toothpastes. A state bill introduced today would prohibit the production, manufacture, distribution and sale of products containing plastic beads fewer than 5 millimeters in size because they have been shown to bypass the sewage system and wind up in bodies of water, as Lake Erie, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said in a statement. Schneiderman called it “common-sense legislation.”
