EcoBeautyScore: consultation before finalisation

EcoBeautyScore : consultation avant finalisation

Initiated in 2021 and currently comprising 71 members, the EcoBeautyScore consortium has set itself the goal of creating a common system for assessing and rating the environmental impact of cosmetic products. It is now nearing the end of its work and is launching a public consultation to gather the views of stakeholders before final publication.

The ambition of the EcoBeautyScore (EBS) consortium is to provide the industry with a harmonised rating system, based on the assessment of the environmental impact of cosmetic products, in order to provide harmonised communication to consumers and encourage improvement in the environmental performance of products.
It also aims to provide consumers with clear, transparent and comparable information on environmental impact, based on a common scientific methodology.

The EBS methodology and rating system are open to all cosmetics manufacturers worldwide on a voluntary basis.
And the consortium launched a public consultation on 11 March 2024 to allow all relevant stakeholders to review and comment on them before they are finalised and launched on the market for a selection of product categories (including shampoos and facial moisturisers).
This consultation is open for a period of 60 days, until 29 April 2024.

All comments received during that period will be analysed and made publicly available via the EBS website.
Once all comments have been processed, a summary of shareholder feedback and responses will be published. This will trigger the second stage of the consultation, lasting 30 days, during which those who contributed to the public consultation will have the opportunity to assess whether …
