E-commerce, shopping on social networks… the retail sector is reinventing itself. But how is the physical distribution in France? Are consumers abandoning stores in favor of websites (or the opposite)? To answer these questions, QuantaFlow has commissioned the OpinionWay polling institute.
The OpinionWay survey for Quantaflow and the Fédération des Acteurs du Commerce dans les Territoires was conducted between July 26 and 28, 2022. A sample of 1,063 people (aged 18 and over) was interviewed by self-administered questionnaire.
The panel was made up of 48% men and 52% women.
“The French liked to find all the physical shops in the aftermath of the Covid crisis,” says OpinionWay.
After food stores (96%), they like to go to shopping centers (66%).
According to the figures, consumers prefer to do their shopping in stores (75%), because they find it more convenient (74%).
Compared to e-commerce, the French find that physical stores allow:
• To buy products in a more secure way (80%)
• To benefit from better advice (85%)
• To have a better traceability of products (71%)
• To offer a better after-sales service (73%)
