The potential of the Ivorian healthcare sector is estimated at two billion euros. This figure is expected to double by 2025. Covid-19 has had a negative impact on the market. However, so-called “informal” consumption has increased due to the general slowdown in supplies. Parallel distribution networks have flourished and the marketing of unregulated or counterfeit products has increased,“ comments Business France. “A middle class is emerging that represents about 26% of the population, or just under seven million people. For the past few years, we have seen that some women are concerned about their well-being and are eager to afford quality care.”

Market Characteristics
Some local brands are well established. This is the case of SIVOP, the Nouvelle Parfumerie Ghandour and Dream Cosmetics. They are leaders in the hygiene/beauty and entry-level perfumery sectors.
However, 80% of cosmetics sold in Ivory Coast are imported. It is the sub-Saharan African country with the largest number of international players. Recently, Mac Cosmetics and Maybelline New-York have established themselves in the country.
