CosmeticOBS carried out a survey of its Internet users on organic cosmetics* in January 2015. Labels, definition of ‘organic’, distribution channels, packaging, expectations, the future… Here are the first results.
Organic stores are the 1st place to buy organic cosmetics
Organic cosmetics consumers prefer to use several channels and thus switch from one distribution network to another. It is no surprise organic stores are the most popular, with 66% of respondents choosing them as the first place to buy organic cosmetics, ahead of pharmacies and parapharmacies, which reach 55%, online selling (47%), and supermarkets (36%).
Face care products are the most popular organic cosmetics online
Face care (creams, serums, scrubs, masks, anti-aging care, eye care, lip care) is at the top of the list of organic cosmetics bought online for 44% of respondents. Then come body hygiene (shower gels, shampoos, hair care, hand soaps, deodorants) and body care (moisturizing milk, slimming products, exfoliants, leg care). Products for pregnant women, babies, and young children, and perfumes and eaux de toilette bring up the rear.
Cosmebio and Ecocert are the most well-known organic labels
It comes as no surprise that the Cosmebio label created by the Professional Association for Natural, Ecological and Organic Cosmetics is the most famous among the respondents, shortly ahead of the Ecocert certification and control organization. 65% of them can recognize the Cosmebio logo and know what it …
