Organic cosmetics: what results in pharmacies?

As every year, the Cosmébio association organized its General Assembly. During the 2021 edition, which was held on September 21 in Paris, the focus was on the performance of organic skincare products in pharmacies and parapharmacies. Flore Coudy, marketing director at IQVIA, a research firm, was in charge of presenting the figures for the year 2021.

To carry out this study, IQVIA based itself on the sales of a panel of 14,000 pharmacies throughout France. In terms of parapharmacies, IQVIA covers 95% of the points of sale in France (in pharmacies and in the various brands).

In 2020, the results were already good in pharmacies and on the Internet (sites specialized in the health sector), but the poor performance in parapharmacies led to a certain decline. “This is no longer the case in 2021,” comments Flore Coudy. “The pharmacy is making 2.4 billion in sales, the parapharmacy 567 million, or +0.5% compared to the previous year, and e-commerce 90 million.”

Naturalness: a key trend in pharmacy

The craze for “clean” products throughout the value chain no longer needs to be proven. And consumers who buy their skincare products in pharmacies/parapharmacies are no exception to the rule. Thus, many “green” brands manage to stand out and record good performances.
