In cosmetics, there are several types of consumers: those who like conventional products, those who only swear by organic care… And there are others, more nuanced. YouGov, a research firm, has taken an interest in those who are looking to consume better and who are starting to look at the list of ingredients (but who have not necessarily taken the plunge yet). The agency has thus drawn up a profile of this person.
To carry out this survey, Yougov interviewed (online) 5250 French adults who are motivated to buy “clean” cosmetics. The survey was conducted on February 6, 2022.
Preferred brands
First, Yougov sought to know which brands are the panel’s favorites.
At the top of the podium are:
• La Roche-Posay
• Caudalie
• Melvita
The research firm was also interested in the reputation of the brands among the respondents. This time, the ranking differs slightly. The first place is still occupied by La Roche-Posay, the second by Avène and the third by Caudalie.
Everyday cosmetic routines
These consumers are avid users of beauty products.
In the past month:
• 56% used a cream (versus 37% of the national population)
• 28% used lotion (versus 22%)
• 21% used UV protection (versus 14%)
“Only 37% of them have not purchased any cosmetics in the last three months (versus 46% of the national population),” YouGov adds.
To get their skincare products:
• 40% go to perfumeries (Sephora, Marionnaud…)
• 35% go to specialized stores (Yves Rocher, Caudalie…)
• 32% go to parapharmacies
