The NPD Group, market research specialist has just published the selective beauty market sales report for the whole of 2013. The general trend in France in the prestige beauty sector, as in Latin European countries, is a slight decline in sales (France -1.5%, Italy -2.3%, Spain -2.1%), unlike the Anglo-Saxon countries, which posted an increase in results (US +5%, UK +5.7%). However, 2013 was marked in each segment (perfumes, skincare, make-up) by the ramp-up of fine initiatives and promising segments, as well as by the good health of the more"high-end" products, which are still very promising for 2014.

2013 also confirmed the ramp-up of Eau de Parfums, which grew by 10% in men and held up well in women thanks to the success of large formats (75 ml and over at +3%). Premium alcohols at over €75 per bottle are also growing strongly (+9%).
