Seppic partners with UEBT for more sustainable cosmetic sourcing

Seppic s'associe avec l'UEBT pour un sourcing cosmétique plus durable

Seppic, a member of the UEBT (Union for Ethical BioTrade) since 2008, has decided to go further in its eco-responsible commitment. The group, through its subsidiary Serdex, has joined the Action for Nature & People project. The objective of this program, which already brings together 40 partners, is to develop a model for responsible sourcing of ingredients from biodiversity that respects people and the environment.

The issue of sustainability in the beauty industry concerns all actors in the chain, starting with the raw material manufacturers. This is why Seppic confirms its willingness to participate in a more ethical sourcing by joining this initiative launched by the UEBT.

“Serdex contributes to this initiative through its commitment to preserve biodiversity, respect traditional know-how, improve the living conditions of local populations and develop a strong partnership with local suppliers in the areas where the plants are collected. In doing so, Serdex ensures a responsible supply chain, in line with the principles of the Nagoya Protocol, and provides its customers with ingredients that respect biodiversity and local communities,” explains the Seppic Group. “Serdex fufills 96.5% of the requirements set by the UEBT and improves its score again compared to the last audit. The requirements of the UEBT standard apply to all supply activities through which ingredients are produced, harvested and obtained. Serdex has chosen to improve the ethical practices of its supply chain of Centella Asiatica in Madagascar, covering its entire supply chain.”
