The world’s top cosmetics companies of 2015 published by The Brand Finance have been ranked by the value of their brands for a unique annual study. L'Oréal Paris comes out on top with an all time record value of US$11.2 billion. Troubled Avon has lost 39% of its brand value in a year, dropping out of the top ten.

The Brand Finance Cosmetics 50, is an annual study conducted by leading brand valuation and strategy consultancy Brand Finance, released in partnership with Cosmetics Business’ SPC Magazine. The world’s biggest cosmetics brands are put to the test and evaluated to determine which are the most powerful and most valuable.

L'Oréal Paris tops the table with a record brand value of US$11.2 billion. Its brand value is up 15% from US$9.8 billion in 2014. Brand Finance Chief Executive David Haigh comments, “L'Oréal has pulled off the trick of simultaneously capturing the mass market while maintaining an air of exclusivity.” L'Oréal is the only cosmetics brand, and one of only 12 brands from any sector (including Google, Ferrari and Rolex) to have been awarded Brand Finance’s top AAA+ brand rating. The brand rating is a benchmark of the strength and future potential of the brand, confirming L'Oréal’s brand power.

Brand Finance has separately calculated the brand values for L'Oréal Paris and the L'Oréal corporate brand for the first time this year, calculating past values to track the historical performance.
