The keyword #makeup is one of the most popular on TikTok. According to the platform, it reaches 374 billion views.
74% of users consider that the network has transformed their vision of beauty.
Pleasure and authenticity
To each network, its codes. If Instagram is dedicated to aesthetics close to perfection, TikTok frees itself from stereotypes and leaves more room for fun.
“Through their videos, TikTok users express an essential point: makeup is exciting when it allows you to transform yourself. What’s valuable on TikTok are the spectacular looks,” explains Fabien Le Roux, Brand Strategy Lead at TikTok.
But the platform is not only a space for crazy creativity. It’s a place where Internet users are anchored in real life and share tips that can be applied to everyday life.
For example, #passportmakeup (223 million views) and #driverslicensemakeup (18.6 million views) allow people to find makeup tutorials in order to look their best on their official documents (which is not always obvious…).
