Unilever launches a deodorant for people with disabilities

The American group, already committed to inclusiveness, has just taken another step to make cosmetics accessible to all. Unilever plans to launch a deodorant with packaging designed for people with disabilities.

This product will be marketed under the Degree brand (Rexona, Sure and Shield in various countries).
Currently, there are nearly 60 million people with disabilities in the United States. “People with disabilities are the largest minority group in the world. In the U.S. alone, one in four people have a disability, yet beauty and personal care products often overlook their challenges and needs. As the world’s leading antiperspirant and deodorant brand, Degree is taking steps to change that,” Unilever says.

So the brand collaborated with consumers with disabilities and a diverse group of experts to create a deodorant design that makes application easier.
“Limited sight or arm mobility can make it difficult to twist a deodorant cap, twist a stick or press a spray, and sometimes the fear of sweating without antiperspirant protection can prevent people with disabilities from moving as much as they’d like. That’s why Degree worked with a diverse team of experts to bring the specific needs of consumers with disabilities to the forefront of a new concept: Degree Inclusive.”

The hook-shaped packaging is designed to be used with one hand and has a magnetic closure for easy cap replacement.
The labeling is also written in Braille. …
