Bright orange, fuchsia, tropical green, turquoise, electric purple… the"parrot" trend is winning over mascaras who are definitely not afraid of any hue this summer! With them, our lashes see all the colors… Zoom on the cosmetic novelties of the week by Ariane Le Febvre.
This is the"fashion" detail of fine days, the one that desecrates black mascara, modernises the look and impresses the eye. Nothing is colorful enough for our lashes this summer: they too vibrate to the rhythm of samba! Usually reserved for younger generations, will flashy mascaras also seduce those who are no longer 20 years old? Back to school response. In the meantime, worn by tropical fashion, they triumph in summer make-up collections, with more daring colors than ever. And if the latter intimidate, they can be tempted as a second intention, that is to say, put them on the tip of the lashes, after a coat of black mascara, to make the eyes sparkle and bring a spark of joyful and intriguing color.
From the podium to the street…
Chanel had set the tone last summer with extravagant shades like Zest (a bright yellow) or Lime Light (a soft milky green) and recurs this spring with a black red mascara (Mascara Inimitable Intense N°40 Red Black, 30.50 €). Then, in its Reflets d'Été Collection with two vibrant shades: vitaminized orange and electric violet (Mascara Inimitable Waterproof Orange Touch and Violet Touch, 31 €, ephemeral editions, from June 1st). For those who don't feel cold, Dior will try pop eyelashes with its bright pink Dior Addict It Lash Mascara (It-Pink, €32.50, starting June 1). With its colourful pigments, its flexible elastomer brush with a rounded tip and its formula that can be removed with water, it represents one of the most surprising creations of the season! The range also offers"wiser" tones such as purple and electric blue (It-Purple or It-Blue).
Blue in the spotlight
Turquoise and electric blue in limited editions at Givenchy (Mascara Phenomen'Eyes Waterproof Turquoise Obsession, 30 €), Clarins (Truly Waterproof Mascara N°02 Curaçao, 26,50 €), Gemey-Maybelline (Mascara Colossal Volume Express turquoise blue, 12,50 €) and Bourjois (Mascara waterproof Volume Glamour Max Holidays Electric blue, 8,05 €). L'Oréal Paris is focusing on the"blue-jean" look with the Miss Manga Mega Volume Mascaras in Indigo or Turquoise Pop shades (14.90 € - Miss Denim collection summer 2014). Artdeco offers a violet blue (All In One Mascara 04 Bleu violet, 17,50 €).
Carnival look
The most technicolor look of the season comes back to Sephora with its Tropical Eyes Mascara, a lagoon green double-tipped mascara on one side and a lemon yellow top coat for the lashes on the other (15,90 €). You superimpose the two and you get a"bird of paradise" look as fun as it is electrifying!
If traditionally coloured mascaras are more common in summer, you can already find them in autumn palettes, such as Givenchy's new 4 in 1 Black Couture Mascara in shade N°05 Amazing Violet, a dark and mysterious purple, very attractive (32 €, Autumn-Winter 2014 "Extravagancia" Collection from August 18th). Will the"coloured lashes" trend take hold?
