In which categories of cosmetic products can ingredients containing aluminium compounds be found? If one instinctively thinks of antiperspirants, they are far from being the only ones in this case. In its Opinion (SCCS/1644/22) published in 2022, the SCCS (Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety) has listed them.
The SCCS based its list on data provided by industry, including a market survey conducted by the Aluminium Consortium.
It groups together the types of products containing at least 0.01% aluminium in their formulation, where the ingredients containing it can fulfil various functions: abrasive, absorbent, antiperspirant, astringent, colouring, viscosity control, deodorant, opacifier…
